I am passionate about philanthropy and of all my projects, this may have been my favorite. While working for BioStorage Technologies, I was able to create a philanthropic program for the company called “Freeze Frame Challenge.” The idea behind this was similar to the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. By sharing a photo of yourself with an ice cube on social media or through the WordPress site, BioStorage would donate a dollar to one of four beneficiaries in the name of cancer research. This project was a lot of creative work and my responsibilities for this project included creating a WordPress site with submission pages, press kits, social media pages and posts (paid, organic and targeted), as well as a video for the Freeze Frame Challenge. I also worked with each beneficiary to obtain blog posts and feature those throughout the year on Facebook and Twitter. This cause lasted all year, was shared at all of our trade shows and even by strangers online*. This cause benefitted Stand Up to Cancer, Komen Tissue Bank, Leukemia Lymphoma Society, and the Lung Cancer Research Foundation. In the end, we donated somewhere around $4,000 in the name of cancer research.
